Egypt’s FM discusses negotiation developments with Iranian Counterpart and US Envoy

CAIRO – 2 June 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, held two phone calls on Tuesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff as part of ongoing consultations on regional developments.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the calls addressed developments in the US-Iran negotiations.

The two sides exchanged views on ways to advance the negotiation process and the ongoing efforts to reach a mutually acceptable settlement that would help reduce tensions between the parties.

The spokesperson added that Minister Abdelatty reiterated during the calls the importance of continuing efforts to achieve a mutually acceptable solution to the crisis. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to working with regional partners to reach a settlement that addresses the concerns of all parties and supports regional security and stability.
